We’re Doing the Lord’s Work.

We're Doing the Lord's Work

There are days as a mom that I feel stuck in a rut.

I wake up, grab the baby, take the dog out, feed the dog, feed the baby, feed the cats, play with the baby, change the baby, nap time, clean house, play with baby. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

The weekends are always the same: clean the dirty dishes, wash/fold the laundry, teach the baby not to cry when I say, “no,” say no constantly throughout the day, baby cries, soothe baby. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

It’s a lot of repeating, day in and day out. It’s easy to feel like the days aren’t going anywhere.

But what if I told you that in these moments we are teachers. We are ambassadors of the Lord. We are doing the Lord’s work.

We feel as if all we’re doing is the same thing, over and over again. But, God repeats. We repeat. It is the only way we learn. It is the only way we live.

The Lord instructs us to feed his lambs. So we wake up early in the morning, and we feed her oatmeal. The Lord says a second time, tend his sheep. So we sit on the floor with them and play, wiping their noses when they’re runny, and we comfort them when they get upset. A third time, the Lord says to feed his sheep. So we bake and we cook and we prepare, and we make sure that the ones who cannot feed themselves are provided for {John 21:15-17}.

These are spiritual practices, too.

Feeding the hungry. Caring for the least. Giving to those in need.

So, maybe this is exactly the work we’re meant to be in – feeding the lambs, tending the sheep, feeding the sheep.

Keep at it mamas. You’re doing great.

You’re doing the Lord’s work.
